Team Althea Racing and its rider Niccolò Canepa are ready for the fifth round of the 2014 Superbike season that will take place on the weekend of 23-25 May at the English circuit of Donington Park. Italian rider Canepa is ready to make up for the two unlucky races at Imola, in which he was a protagonist until he suffered technical problems, since resolved by the Team. Niccolò Canepa has always enjoyed positive results at the British track and is therefore confident ahead of the upcoming weekend.

This circuit, located in the East Midlands, not far from Sherwood Forest, was built in 1931 specifically to host motorcycle races. The Donington Park track is 4020m in length, with 12 corners, and runs in a clockwise direction. It reached this length in 1985 after development work led to the creation of the Melbourne Loop, a section behind the paddock. The English track is located inside a natural amphitheatre, great for spectators. It is a mixed-fast track that contains tricky sections for riders, with undulation and fast corners that require some abrupt braking and acceleration.

Main circuit characteristics:

Length: 4020m

Right-hand turns: 7

Left-hand turns: 5

Superbike – lap record: J. Rea – 2013 – 1’28.469

Superbike – best lap: T. Sykes – 2013 – 1’27.378

Niccolò Canepa: “Donington is another track that I really enjoy. There is always a really special atmosphere at British races! After some bad luck at Imola, I’m even more prepared and motivated and the aim is always to make up as many points as possible over our championship rivals. It won’t be an easy weekend, not least because the English weather is always an unknown, but we’ll give it our all, as always, and I know that I can count on one of the best teams in the paddock”.
