Max Angles wrapped up the 2021 season with enough points to claim the Florida Expert Overall Championship, and will be sporting the number one plate for the region next season.  Angles edged out reigning champion, Stefano Mesa’s points lead by 3.5 points to claim the title at the end of the Championship Cup Series Florida Region’s season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway this past weekend after winning a whopping 12 races during the Twin Sprints event.  He also claimed the region’s Expert Middleweight Superbike  Championship for the year.

Angles dominated the Middleweight classes throughout the two-day event on board his Kawasaki ZX-6R, frequently battling for the lead with Eric Wood and his Woodcraft/Penguin Road Racing School’s Kawasaki ZX-10R in open-class races.  Angles’ efforts won him 12 of his 14 races with victories in the GTO, GTU, Middleweight GP, Heavyweight Superbike, and both rounds of the Middleweight Superbike, Unlimited Supersport, Heavyweight Superbike, and Middleweight Supersport classes.  Wood won both rounds of the Unlimited Grand Prix and Unlimited Superbike races, and Saturday’s running of the F 40 class. Angles is sponsored by Graves Kawasaki, Dunlop Tires, PDR Sport, and Envy Racing.

Yandel Medina edged out Angles as the winningest racer of the event with an impressive 13 first place finishes.  Medina won both rounds of the Superbike 500, Moto 3, Ultralight Superbike, Lightweight Supersport, Lightweight Superbike, and Supersport 500 classes, as well as Sunday’s running of the Thunderbike race.  He is sponsored by NYST, Edwin Design, Sun Blue Window Film, Heroic Leathers, and Hope Farm Corp.

Chyler Weatherford and Chris White led the way to tie for most victorious amateur racer of the weekend with eight wins apiece.  White was out front to claim victory in both rounds of the Amateur Superbike 500, Ultralight Superbike, GP 300, and Moto 3 classes. He also won the Amateur Superbike 300 race on Sunday. He clinched the Amateur GP 300, Moto 3, and Superbike 500 Championships for the 2021 season as well.

Weatherford ran undefeated in all eight of his classes and wrapped up his short season with the Amateur Unlimited Superbike Championship.  He won both Twin Sprint rounds of the Amateur Unlimited Grand Prix, Unlimited Superbike, and Unlimited Supersport classes, as well as the GTO and GTO Rookie’s Cup classes during the event.
