This coming weekend, May 4-5, the Championship Cup Series (CCS) opens its 2019 race season at Autobahn Country Club in Joliet, Illinois. The track is located 55 minutes southwest of Chicago, 10 minutes off of I-80. Racers will take to the 1.46-mile, nine-turn, “North Course” configuration of Autobahn as they compete in a wide variety of classes.
Gates open Friday at 5 p.m. and CCS registration/tech will be open Friday from 5-7 p.m. in preparation for Saturday’s racer practice, and licensing clinic by Learning Curves Race School. Additionally, Saturday will host the inaugural Pirelli Trackday Challenge. This is an introduction for potential racers to become familiar with a typical race weekend experience. The gate will be operated 24 hours, but admission wristbands must be purchased before midnight on Friday, or 10 p.m. on Saturday. Sales will resume at 6 a.m. on Sunday.
Sunday, the action heats up with a full slate of races scheduled all day. CCS racers look to take advantage of the favorable weather forecast and capitalize on the double-points event in the opening round. Starting on Friday, tickets for a weekend pass are only $35, reduced to $25 on Saturday, and just $15 on Sunday.
