CCS racer Dennis Crowley remains hospitalized after hitting a steel barrier along a short straight September 24 during practice for a CCS race at VIR. Crowley lost his right arm and suffered a serious head injury, and is in a medically induced coma. More, from one of Crowley’s friends: FIRST PERSON/OPINION Via e-mail: Last Saturday Dennis Crowley from Maryland, a good friend and CCS racer, was seriously injured at VIR during practice. As a result of the crash he has lost his right arm and is in a “coma-like” state. He has severe brain swelling with a current prognosis of “wait and see.” After the incident a collection of $2800 was taken up in the pits to help his family. They are extremely grateful for this and all other donations that have come since the crash. I have setup a website to update friends and family on his condition, send get well wishes, and to provide a link where donations can be made to help the family with medical expenses. ~http://www.helpdenniscrowley.com/~ This is another example of a freak occurrence where a racer came into contact with an unprotected barrier where no one ever expected it to happen. PLEASE support the Roadracing World Action Fund, help save your fellow racers from life threatening injuries. Matt Richardson Jacksonville, Florida
