Travis McNerney, who began racing with the Championship Cup Series in 1997, will be one of several Americans competing in the Manx GP races on the Isle of Man in August. Travis will be racing a Suzuki SV650 as the sole American in the Newcomers B and Super Twin classes. A Marine Corps combat veteran of Afghanistan and Iraq, Travis put his leathers back on at the end of 2003 upon his return from Iraq. Since then Travis has won several lightweight class championships over the years with CCS. He has also placed in the top 10 of the Mid-Atlantic Region Overall Championships for several years, with his best accomplishment being the earning of the #3 plate in 2009. He currently races an SV650 and an Aprilia RSV4. Commenting about his upcoming adventure, “I’ve always wanted to race on the Isle of Man Mountain Course and to do it while I still don’t have any commitments that would stop me. Just visiting would be tease. Everything came together this year. Since entry acceptance isn’t a guarantee, you can’t really finalize all the logistics until the last month or so. That adds some stress to the process but it will certainly be worth it.” Initials thanks go to Brandon Cretu for helping to arrange a bike to ride from Mark Hamilton of Irish Bike Magazine. Primary support comes by way of McNerney and Associates Investigation and Security Services www.mcnerneyinc.com Travis will be posting news about his progress and results to the www.dcsportbikes.net and CCS forums.
