In recognition of the upcoming holiday weekend, everyone involved with CCS racing wants to recognize our military personnel, past and present, for their sacrifices in the name of freedom. Without them, we could not do this and we know it. Thank you all for everything you’ve done! . Memorial Day weekend is the traditional kick off to Summer and the Championship Cup Series Presented by MotoSport.com has you covered for racing action. There are three big events on the calendar for the holiday weekend, Summit Point Raceway, Heartland Park-Topeka and the usual CCS Florida venue, taking advantage of the long weekend to give you your fill of motorcycle road racing. First up is the two-day event May 23-24 at Heartland Park-Topeka where the Great Plains Series has its third of seven events. The program features practice all day Saturday and a full slate of racing action on Sunday, leaving you the actual Holiday free to enjoy with your family. Next is the three day event May 23-25 at Summit Point Raceway where the Michelin Pro Series joins with CCS and the Replicast Challenge. Saturday is practice, getting everyone up to speed for the racing action to come on Sunday and Monday. The Summit Point Cyclefest is sponsored by Harley Davidson of Frederick and is proud to welcome some special guests from Walter Reed Hospital for the Memorial Day festivities. (A big thanks to Steve Levow and his team for arranging the visit from our soldiers.) Then, in another Memorial Day tradition, it’s Sunday/Monday racing for CCS Florida on May 24-25. This West Palm Beach celebration of our soldiers and their families is in its third decade and going strong. The feature race of the CCS Florida Series is the $2000 Unlimited GP Shootout but for this special weekend, the television show 2xtreem has added $500 to the purse making the total offered $2500 with $800 going to the winner! That should be plenty to get the fireworks started. For complete schedules and event information, go to www.ccsracing.us. More, from another press release issued by ASRA/CCS: 8th Annual Summit Point Cyclefest Michelin Pro Series Summit Point, WV May 23-25, 2009 There are two great American traditions on Memorial Day, honoring our military men and women for their service and racing. Both of these traditions will happen at Summit Point Raceway this Sunday as the 8th Annual Summit Point Cyclefest kicks off on Sunday May 24th in Summit Point WV. This event has grown to be one of the largest on the Michelin Pro Series circuit and with the help of presenting sponsor Harley Davidson of Frederick and ASRA/CCS racer Steve Levow, we will welcome 25 of our soldiers from Walter Reed Army Hospital to celebrate the holiday in style with the ASRA and CCS racing family. Last year’s Summit Point Cyclefest saw new track records in all four Michelin Pro Series classes, Factory Pro SportBike, SuperBike, SuperStock and the always popular ThunderBike. The biggest change from year’s past is the fact that only ThunderBike has a former class champion leading the points coming into the fourth round of the season, the other classes are led by newcomers to the championship chase. In ThunderBike, it is .Dan Bilansky, 2006 Champion from Wisconsin, at the front with an eighteen point lead over fellow Mid-West rider Joel Spaulding. Returning to challenge these two Buell racers is the defending class champion Nate Kern and his intimidating BMW along with local favorite Bryan Bemisderfer who holds the track record for the ThunderBikes. The feature class, Factory Pro SportBike, has series veteran Brian Stokes from Georgia with an eight point lead over Missouri’s Matt Hall, and a ten point advantage over Paul Allison from Pennsylvania. This is Stokes first point-lead since he returned from injury suffered a few years ago, and the quiet Southern gentleman is speaking loud with his talent on the race course. The Michelin Pro Series SuperBike chase is lead by Paul Allison who is glad to return to Summit Point Raceway, the Pennsylvanian’s home track. While Allison hasn’t won yet this season, he has finished on the podium in the first three races and will be giving his best to score a victory at his home track. Allison enjoys a twenty-four point margin over Hall, a lead he hopes to increase before the series move to New Hampshire next month. For the SuperStock riders this year, it has been a tough start to the championship. First it was rain at both Daytona and Heartland Park-Topeka that made rider the liter-class machines a real nightmare. Then when all three of the top competitors rolled out their new Kawasaki ZX-10’s, it became a real contest of rider ability to get to the front. With Stokes and Hall trading wins and Brian Hall returning from last years injury, these men are separated by a mere fourteen points with Matt Hall leading the class by only one point over the second place Stokes. Look for another Team Green battle at Summit Point as these men seek their first Michelin Pro Series Championship. For more information, please visit us at www.asraracing.com .
