The absence of the Team BMW Michelin at the recent pre-24 Hours of Le Mans testing session, which took place at the end of March, was far to be un-noticed. A financial and contractual disagreement between preparator Jean-François Daffix and BMW France importer explained the fact that the official S 1000 RR was not race-prepared on time. Today, the contract is officially broken between the two partners. Expected to be a great challenger for a 2010 Qtel FIM Endurance World Championship race victory, the official S 1000 RR from Team BMW Michelin is now under the experienced care of Witec Motorsport, a German team based near Munich. Witec was the partner of team BMW Sikora, a Polish BMW dealer, who entered the 2009 Bol d’Or. The BMW Sikora was enlisted in the Superstock class; the bike finished at an honorable eleventh overall place and took the fourth place in the Superstock class. Witec was also in charge of the official HP2 Sport engaged by BMW Motorrad in Endurance in 2007 and 2008. Although this delay in the development of the bike might affect its performance, Team BMW Michelin said that everything will be done so that the S 1000 RR will be on the starting grid at Le Mans with Sébastien Gimbert, Erwan Nigon and Sébastien Charpentier.
