Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Amendments to the Rules The Grand Prix Commission, composed of Messrs. Carmelo Ezpeleta (Dorna, Chairman), Claude Danis (FIM), Hervé Poncharal (IRTA) and Takanao Tsubouchi (MSMA), in the presence of Mr Paul Butler (Secretary of the meeting), in a meeting held on December 13 in Barcelona, unanimously decided to introduce the following amendments to the Road Racing World Championship Grand Prix Regulations application as from 1st January 2007. Sporting Regulations 1.13 Schedule 1.13.1 The Event schedule will be as follows: FRIDAY : Free practice Qualifying practice 125cc 09h00 – 09h45 13h15 – 13h45 Motogp 10h05 – 11h05 14h00 – 15h00 250cc 11h25 – 12h25 15h15 – 16h00 1.15.2 Practice Sessions (warm-up inclusive) iii) The end of practice will be indicated by the waving of a chequered flag at which time the pit exit will be closed. A rider’s time will continue to be recorded until he passes the finish line after the allotted time has elapsed, at which time the red light on the finish line will be displayed. After the chequered flag, riders must complete one additional lap prior to entering the pits. At the end of the first free practice session, they may complete one more additional lap (see Art. 1.21.17). 1.15.4. Lap time All laps of the riders will be timed. 1.15.5 Qualification for the Race To qualify for the race, a rider must achieve a time at least equal to 107% of the time recorded by the fastest rider of his class; exceptions to this rule may be made at the discretion of the Race Direction. 1.16 Grid Positions 1.16.3 Grid positions will be based on the fastest time recorded by the riders in all qualifying practice. In the case where all qualifying practice have been canceled, the grid position will be based on the fastest time recorded by the riders in all free practices. 1.21 Behaviour During Practice and Race 17) During the practice sessions and warm ups, practice starts are permitted, when it is safe to do so, at the pit lane exit before joining the track. At the end of the first free practice session, after the chequered flag is shown, riders are not allowed to stop during the additional lap. At the end of the lap, they may decide to enter the pits or to go onto the starting grid where they must practice start when it is safe to do so and complete one more additional lap without stopping. At the end of the other practice sessions and the warm up, after the chequered flag is shown, practice starts are permitted when it is safe to do so, off the racing line. Technical Regulations 2.9 Tyre restrictions for MotoGP 2.9.4 Between 12.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs. on the day prior to the start of official practice, the Technical Director will mark the tyres available for the exclusive use of each entered rider. 2.9.5 Each slick or hand cut tyres (as defined in Art. 2.9.1) fitted to a motorcycle entering the track or delivered to the starting grid must be checked for compliance. Disciplinary and Arbitration Code 3.4.3 Procedure and time limit for protests All protests must be submitted and signed only by the person directly concerned. Each protest must refer to a single subject only and must be presented within 2 hours at the latest after the publication of the results or within 60 minutes at the latest after the notification of a Race Direction decision. Protests must be handed to a responsible official (Clerk of the Course, Race Director or Secretary of the Meeting) together with the security deposit of USD 700.- or equivalent. Teams and riders contracted to compete in the Championship may submit a letter of guarantee from IRTA in lieu of payment.
