ORANGE COUNTY, CALIFORNIA — SWIGZ.COM Pro Racing announced today that rider Chip Yates (AMA #89) has been approved to race in the World Supersport race at Miller Motorsports Park by Infront Motor Sports, promoter of the FIM Superbike World Championship. The Memorial Day (May 31st) 600cc World Supersport (WSS) race will be Yates’ second chance at this exciting world level event. In the 2009 Miller WSS race, Yates was slowed by a torn shoulder and uncompetitive racebike, but for 2010 his team has made some serious changes in order to improve on last year’s 26th place result. Chip Yates: “We commissioned Marc Hoegee to build us a world level motor for this race and he has really delivered the goods. Our WSS bike is based on Barry Veneman’s 2009 world bike including a MoTeC 880 ECU, MoTeC dashboard and data acquisition system coupled to Marc’s screaming Suzuki motor we shouldn’t be too far behind the top teams in terms of equipment.” On the suspension side, the SWIGZ.COM Pro Racing Team will feature special guest Mike Fitzgerald, Road Racing Manager for Ohlins USA as Chip’s personal suspension engineer for the race weekend. MP Tuning’s Mitch Pederson will join the team as Chip’s MoTeC ECU and data acquisition engineer. Chip Yates: “Mike and I have teamed up in the past with good results and since Ohlins USA is a key sponsor on our Electric Superbike program, it made sense to have Mike join the team for this special event.” Miller Motorsports Park race officials have also invited Chip to ride demonstration laps for the crowd on his 194 horsepower Electric Superbike each day of the race weekend May 29-31, 2010. Following his laps, the Electric Superbike will be on display in a special booth in the vendor area for the public to see.
