Carr’s two passes on Tuesday at the famed Bonneville Salt Flats in the BUB Enterprises #7 streamliner averaged 350.8 mph, set FIM/AMA records and earned Carr a spot in the Guinness Book of World Records! DEARBORN, Mich. Ford Motor Company-backed Chris Carr’s two runs earlier this week in the BUB Enterprises streamliner averaged 350.8 mph and are now in the FIM and AMA record books as the fastest anyone has ever traveled on a motorcycle – breaking a record that stood for 16 years! Becoming an ‘official’ record late Thursday (Sept. 7) afternoon, representatives from both sanctioning bodies at Bonneville Salt Flats’ FIM/AMA Sports International Motorcycle Speed Trials by BUB proclaimed Carr the overall streamliner class winner, new FIM/AMA record holder and new Guinness Book of World Records entry for the fastest motorcycle ride ever. “I tell ya I’m feeling pretty good right now. I’m five-foot-five but I’m feeling five-eight,” joked a pumped up Chris Carr following the closing of the week-long competition. “I’m comparing my emotions right now to the first time I won a Grand National at Peoria (Ill.) in 1986. It’s an unbelievable feeling and I’d definitely like to give a big ‘Thanks’ to my sponsors, Ford Motor Company and Denis Manning and the BUB Enterprises team.” With a little drama building in the morning on Thursday, the ACK Attack team scrambled with time running out in an effort to top Carr and the record-holding BUB Enterprises streamliner. But ACK Attack was unable to complete their mission and hit the chutes early, pulled off the track, ended the competition and relinquished the long-standing record to the Carr-piloted BUB Enterprises streamliner. “Ford has enjoyed a incredible relationship with Chris Carr and we feel that we couldn’t have a better spokesman,” said Mike Dennis, Ford Motor Company representative. “Chris is the kind of guy that can do anything and the BUB Enterprises streamliner he drove into the record books was so high tech and so innovative, it was certainly a BOLD MOVE and a perfect fit with Ford’s innovation and love of motorsports competition. “The record stood for 16 years and we broke it this week at Bonneville. I couldn’t be happier for Chris Carr and Ford.” The record was also the culmination of a passionate 36-year high speed adventure at Bonneville for BUB Enterprises’ Denis Manning. “It feels so good I can’t explain it,” said Manning as he thanked Chris and his entire team. “I feel like a high speed Don Quixote. We’re the fastest motorcycle on the planet or any nearby planet.” So what’s next for the Ford Motor Company-backed BUB Enterprises streamliner piloted by Chris Carr? Ask Carr and he wants another run at it, only this time at the magical 400 mph barrier. “I believe the BUB streamliner has the ability to go 400-plus, and I want to be the guy that takes ‘er through that barrier,” said Carr. Carr, Ford Motor Company and BUB Enterprises’ run at the record books was documented by Chet Burks Productions for an upcoming SPEED television special which is slated to run this November.
