Jensen Takes Over as Pirelli North America Racing Manager Following the two most successful seasons for Pirelli in AMA Pro Racing, Chris Jensen is taking over the duties of North America Racing Manager in early December and Christoph Knoche is returning to the Pirelli facilities in Europe. Scott Griffin, Pirelli North America Vice President of Motorcycle Tires, said, “Chris has already proven to be a perfect fit for us in the few months he has been with Pirelli, and we look forward to his contributions over the coming years. Racing is being redefined in America and Chris has the creativity necessary to bring us great successes in WERA’s national and regional programs, in all the amateur racing series around the country, and in the Parts Canada Superbike Championship.” Griffin continued, “Christoph proved himself the right man at the right time, using his experiences from within the Pirelli factory and World Superbike to successfully manage our racing program in the United States. Sweeping the podium in the Daytona 200 in 2007 looked like an impossible feat to top, but Christoph did it by putting Pirelli in all of the top six positions in 2008. And then he complemented this with a record number of wins and podiums for the season , a perfect sweep in the WERA National Endurance Series with Team Vesrah Suzuki and, just last month, a sweep of the Suzuki Cup at the annual GNF at Road Atlanta. We now look forward to having a close friend in Europe to work with us in driving this inertia to new successes.” Christoph Knoche said, “My two years in America are an experience I will always cherish. The Daytona 200 is the one race that all motorcycle enthusiasts know about world-wide, so our sweep there was a dream come true”¦ twice. But I know we only performed so well because of the many riders and teams and fantastic people who put their hearts into this goal. I made many new friends here and I will think of them often.” Chris Jensen said, “I’m looking forward to the many unique challenges ahead. We’ve been hard at work developing new contingency programs, new ways for racers to benefit from our World Superbike developed tires, and we’ll have some great news for North American racers, riders and enthusiasts in the near future. And with Ben Spies riding on Pirelli tires in World Superbike it’s going to be an especially exciting year at Miller Motorsports Park, in Utah. It’s awesome that we now have such a graceful multi-time champion speaking in the press so highly about our tires, showing racers all over America where their goals can take them.” Pirelli Tire North America specializes in the manufacture and marketing of high-performance tires for passenger vehicles, motorcycles and motorsports. An industry leader in technology and quality, Pirelli operates its highly advanced Modular Integrated Robotized System (MIRS) in Rome, Georgia, to better serve the North American OEM and Replacement markets.
