“The Meischke Christmas Wonderland of Lights,” a 40-year South Jersey tradition, coming to New Jersey Motorsports park this holiday season Grand opening set for Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011; Percentage of proceeds to benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Jersey MILLVILLE, N.J. – A longstanding South Jersey tradition is moving from its roots in Delmont across the county to Millville and New Jersey Motorsports Park. “The Meischke Christmas Wonderland of Lights,” a 250,000 light holiday-themed display, will open at NJMP on Saturday, Nov. 26. The late Stanley “Chick” Meischke hosted the display at his residence in Delmont for 40 years attracting tens of thousands of families each holiday season. Now, NJMP has partnered with the Meischke family to keep the tradition going in Chick’s name. NJMP plans to host the display at the F1 New Jersey Karting complex inside Lightning Raceway, creating a quarter-mile walkthrough display on the track and in the kart shop. Santa Claus will be available to hear wish lists and pose for photos each night. The Wonderland of Lights will be open Thursday through Sunday from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. weekly beginning on Saturday, Nov. 26 through Dec. 30, 2011. “We’re very happy to partner with the Meischke family and continue a wonderful tradition started by Mr. Meischke over 40 years ago,” said Brad Scott, general manager of New Jersey Motorsports Park. “We can’t wait to welcome the local community to NJMP to celebrate the holiday season. Our staff, led by Charity Giovanelli and Paul Bonney, has been working hard on plans to make the karting complex a true winter wonderland.” Admission is $5 for adults, $2 for children 12 and under, and under 3 is free. A percentage of proceeds will benefit Make-A-Wish Foundation® of New Jersey, continuing an annual tradition started by the Meischke’s. Tickets can be purchased at the Gate A entrance to NJMP on the day of each display. Parking is free. Concessions will be available for sale. Lighting for the exhibit will come from generators previously supplied by longtime corporate sponsor Subaru of America, Inc., the Official Vehicle and Pace Car of NJMP.
