Circuit of The Americas™ named overall winner in Austin Business Journal’s 2013 Commercial Real Estate Awards Competition $400 million sports and entertainment complex honored for design, functionality and performance AUSTIN, Texas – Circuit of The Americas has received top honors in Austin Business Journal’s 2013 Commercial Real Estate Awards, being named “Overall Winner” during an awards banquet April 24. The $400 million world-class sports and entertainment complex opened in November 2012, just in time to host the return of the world’s most popular motorsport, Formula 1® racing, in Austin. In 2013, the Circuit has hosted successful GRAND-AM™ and MotoGP™ racing with more than 131,000 fans attending the recently completed Red Bull MotoGP of The Americas event held April 19-21. Additionally, Circuit of The Americas has opened its Austin360 Amphitheater, which is playing host to some of the most popular, national touring shows this season. The 14,000-capacity venue opened April 5 with country superstar Kenny Chesney and will next host The Lumineers (April 26) and the legendary Jimmy Buffett (May 2). “To call the Circuit of The Americas project ‘ambitious’ is an understatement,” Austin Business Journal Publisher Heather Ladage said. “Crews had only 10 months to complete the 350-acre complex and parking lots in time to host the FORMULA 1 UNITED STATES GRAND PRIX, a true international spectacle attracting more than 265,000 fans that produced a considerable economic impact for Austin and the State of Texas. Since then, the track has been booked with a variety of events and has emerged as the 800-pound gorilla in Austin’s already mighty live music scene, thanks to the Austin360 Amphitheater and the caliber of performers it attracts. Like the statuesque 25-story observation Tower that looks over the track and its facilities, Circuit of The Americas has become a major player in Austin’s business community in a short amount of time, and the Circuit is a very deserving winner of this year’s Commercial Real Estate Awards.” “This award is a tribute to the thousands of hard-working men and women who showed the power of teamwork, mutual respect, commitment, and perseverance,” Circuit Founding Partner Bobby Epstein said. “Our special thanks and congratulations go to Austin Commercial, Tilke Engineers & Architects of Germany, Miro Rivera Architects of Austin, HKS, and Max Chapman and Company. We’re grateful for this honor and to those who helped turn our concepts into realities.” About Circuit of The Americas Circuit of The Americas is a world-class destination for premium sports and entertainment.
