Once-in-a-Lifetime Chance to Ride Your Classic Investment Race Motorcycle at an AMA Pro National

DENVER, Colo. (March 2, 2012) – M1 PowerSports and the Historic Moto Grand Prix have joined forces to provide a much-needed platform for honoring the classic, investment race motorcycles that formed the sport of American motorcycle road racing, and the legendary riders that competed on them, when the Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta returns to Road Atlanta (April 20 – 22, 2012). Registration is now open for those interested in the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of riding their iconic machines alongside former champions, on one of America’s most historic race tracks and with the exhilarating backdrop of an AMA Pro Road Racing National.

Two packages for participation in the Historic Moto Grand Prix at the Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta are now available to those with investment race motorcycles dating from model year 2005 and earlier. There is a basic option for displaying the machine in an exclusive area in the main paddock and a premium option which also offers daily on-track exhibitions for eligible, licensed riders. For complete information, please visit ~http://www.m1powersports.com/historic-moto-grand-prix/~.

“The Triumph Big Kahuna Triple Crown is back and it’s bigger than ever,” said Cameron Gray, CEO of M1 PowerSports. “The interest in the Historic Moto Grand Prix has been overwhelming, from both former champions and bike owners. If you’ve got a piece of America’s road racing history, the Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta is your chance to share it with the heroes that rode on or against it during the career.”

During the lunch hour each day, you will have the chance to rub elbows with some of the biggest names in the history of the sport as they are reunited with their vintage machines for a series of on-track exhibition laps. The guest list reads like a who’s who of AMA Pro Racing champion riders, including Jamie James, Scott Russell, David Sadowski, Eric Bostrom, Jason Pridmore, Rich Oliver, Jimmy Filice, Tom Kipp, Thomas Stevens and Roland Sands. Other notables in attendance will include Michael Barnes, John Long, Richard Chambers, Henry Degouw, Knobby Clark, Steve Johnson and Jim Leonard.

“I’m ecstatic about it, all these champions coming together,” said Bill Brown, President of the Historic Moto Grand Prix. “Everyone that has called me has said that this has been needed for a long time. It’s going to be good for the riders to get out there on the track again and it’s going to be a great opportunity for fans to honor the efforts that the riders have put forth all their life. I’ve always wanted to give back to this sport; this has been a dream of mine for a long time and it feels good to finally be able to do it. The cooperation that we’ve gotten from the riders has been totally amazing.”

The Historic Moto Grand Prix Display and Ride package is open to anyone with a CCS/WERA/ARHMA license and the chance to take to the track in multiple exhibition rides over the weekend is just $100 per bike for current Historic Moto Grand Prix members. If you’re not currently a member, a $200 package is available which includes a one-year membership. The machines will be tech inspected and grouped in speed categories to provide an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.

For those that would rather keep their prized machines in the paddock, M1 PowerSports is also offering the Historic Moto Grand Prix Display Only package for $50 per machine. Both packages include reserved parking within the Historic Moto Grand Prix display area in the main paddock in addition to one (1) Triumph Big Kahuna Atlanta 3-Day Superticket, valued at $80, for each bike registered. You can’t get Big Kahuna tickets for deeply discounted prices like this anywhere else, this deal is a steal!
