This coming weekend, October 31 – November 2, 2014, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) will be back at Texas World Speedway in College Station, Texas for the final round of the 2014 season. The track is located just south of Bryan/College Station on Highway 6. Texas World Speedway, one of only seven Super Speedways in the US, is composed of two road courses: a 1.8-mile short course and a 2.9-mile long course. Race fans will see both courses utilized this weekend.
The weekend activities begin at 7:00 a.m. Friday with a CMRA License school, racer practice and street-rider track day provided by Lone Star Track Days (www.lstd.com).
Saturday’s schedule begins with a full slate of Mini and Lightweight Sprint races, including the Four81 Motos-sponsored Grom Challenge, Altus Motorsports-sponsored 300 and 500 SuperSport and Rainbow Sox Racing-sponsored Junior Motard class for the youngest racers, ages 8-12 years old. The 5th and final round of CMRA Lightweight Endurance Series, a 2-hour race, begins promptly at 11:15 a.m. on the 1.8 mile course. Racing concludes with the 7th and final round of the Championship Endurance, 4-hour race, at 2 p.m. on the 2.9 mile course. A trophy presentation followed by the CMRA end of season Barbeque and Halloween Party is a welcome finish to the full day of racing.
Sunday’s schedule is jam-packed with a full day’s worth of competitive Big Bike Sprint races. Among the exciting classes not to be missed is the Breast Cancer Research Foundation / P1 Racing Formula 1 Expert class. In addition to a cash purse totaling $11,000 paid out to the top Formula 1 Expert finishers over the course of the 2014 season, a portion of each entry fee is donated to Breast Cancer Research. A few of the other weekend purse paying classes include, HigPerformanceCrew.com – Formula 40 HW Expert ($500), RaceworX – A Superstock Expert ($165) and South Central Race Center – C Superstock Expert ($185). Gates open each day at 6:00 a.m. and we race rain or shine! Weekend entry into the event is only $15 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, and just $10 on Sunday. Tickets are good for the entire weekend. Ride your street bike to the event and you’ll pay just $5 for entry on both Saturday and Sunday! Kids 12 and under are free. A spectator lap of the track will be conducted during the lunch break on Sunday, schedule and weather permitting. Bring a cooler or visit the on-site concession stand serving both breakfast and lunch each day.
Please note that NO PETS are allowed at any of the CMRA race events.
