CMRA Racing At MSR Houston This Coming Weekend

This coming weekend, February 17-19, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) opens its 2017 season at MSR Houston in Angleton, Texas, as racers take it to the track again. The track is located 13 miles south of Highway 6 off Highway 288. MSR Houston is a 17-turn, 2.38 mile full road course.

Saturday’s schedule begins with a full slate of Mini and Ultra Lightweight Sprint races, including the Rainbow Sox Racing Junior Motard for the youngest racers, ages 8-12 years old, and The Bike Doctors 500 Classic for the heavyweights of the lightweight divisions. The opening round of Ultra-Lightweight Endurance begins promptly at 10:30 a.m. with a 6-hour race, featuring the classes of Formula 4, Road & Track Suspension E Superstock, ULW GP, 500 Classic, and Von Hertell Racing Services 500 Superstock, and is followed by the first round of the Race Tire Services/Dunlop Team 60 race. A trophy presentation sponsored by Leather & Lace Racing Leather Repair and trackside racer/spectator Meet and Greet party sponsored by B&J’s Austin Motorcycle Parts is a great finish to the day’s racing.

Sunday’s schedule is jam-packed with a full day’s worth of competitive Bridgestone/CMRA Championship Sprint races. Among the exciting classes not to be missed is the Century Trucks and Vans Formula 2 Expert class. In addition a cash prize of $100 for the first 600cc machine to cross the line in the Formula 1 Expert race, put up by P1 Racing,is also awarded every weekend, along with Georgetown Diesel and Complete Automotive Repair- Formula 40 HW Expert and RaceworX – A Superstock Expert.

The AG Horn-sponsored “Go Girl” award returns again for with a $100 cash award for the female racer who has the best combined finishes of the weekend in at least four races. Gates open each day at 6:00 a.m. and we race rain or shine! Weekend entry into the event is only $25 on Thursday and Friday, $20 on Saturday, and just $10 on Sunday. There is a $5 wristband refund for participants leaving Saturday night – turn in your wristband at the gate as you leave. Tickets are good for the entire weekend. Ride your street bike to the event and you’ll pay just $5 for entry on both Saturday and Sunday! Kids 12 and under are free. A spectator lap of the track will be conducted during the lunch break on Sunday, schedule and weather permitting.
