The CMRA held its second round of the 2021 race season at NOLA Motorsport Park in Avondale, LA. 22 Ultra Lightweight Endurance teams and just over 460 sprint entries were greeted with breezy but otherwise beautiful weather for the three-day event.
Saturday’s feature event was the 8-Hour Ultra-lightweight Endurance Race with 22 teams gridding up for a delayed start for round 2 of the series. The race for the overall victory was a battle between points leader Team RideSmart Pirelli with riders Michael Klesel, Ty Howard, Kevin Randall, Derek Thomas, and Kevin Olmedo and The Village Idiots with riders John Orchard, Chris Headley, Isaiah Burleson, and Cory Burleson. The two teams traded the lead for 8 hours with The Village Idiots finally coming out on top with the overall win and first place in the Von Hertell Racing services 500 Superstock class. Both teams completed 228 laps!
The Skidmarks with riders Brady Ipock, Steven Nedd, Jay Bullard, Rune Medhus, and Paul Garcia rounded out the top three overall. Sons of Arthritis completed 220 laps and picked up the win in the Von Hertell Racing Services 300 Superstock class with riders Dave Gallagher, Josh Henke, Esteban Garcia, and Jesse Davis. Team 50 completed 181 laps to take the win in the 500 Classics Class with riders Brad Boyle, Chris Newhouse, and Lee Henry. SNAP Racing completed 160 laps to pick up the win in the 250 Superstock Class with riders Christina Donahoe, Craig Donahoe, and Rob Lackey.
In Expert Sprint action JC Camacho, Hayden Bicknese, and Walter Walker III were the big winners. Camacho picked up wins in A Superbike, Raceworx A Superstock, and 500 Superbike; a second place finish in Formula 1; and a fourth place finish in 500 Superstock.
Bicknese picked up wins in 500 Superstock, 300 Superbike, and 300 Superstock, and a fourth in 500 Superbike.
Walker took home wins in D Superbike, Lightweight Twins, and Modern Classic, and a second in Formula 2 and a seventh in D Superstock.
In Novice Competition Austin Roden, Tyson Grigor, and Ivan Rivera were the front runners.
Austin Roden picked up wins in D Superstock, 500 Superbike, Lightweight Twins, and a second in 500 Superstock.
Tyson Grigor took wins in B Superstock, B Superbike, Racing Engine Services C Superbike, and a second in RideSmart Motorcycle School C Superstock.
Ivan Rivera had wins in 500 Superstock, Von Hertell Racing Services 500GP, and a third in 500 Superbike.
The CMRA will be back in action April 23-25 at MSR Houston.
