CMRA Finishes Its 2015 Season This Weekend at MSR Houston

This coming weekend, October 31 – November 1, 2015, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association (CMRA) will be tearing up the track at MSR Houston in Angleton, Texas. The track is located 13 miles south of Highway 6 off Highway 288. MSR Houston is a 17-turn, 2.38 mile full road course.

Gatorade has once again generously sponsored the weekend event by providing sports drink product for the entire racing paddock for Saturday and Sunday’s racers as a great tie to their “Sweat with the Best” contest. Each specially marked bottle of sports drink has a code under the cap to use to win instant prizes or enter a chance to win one of 50 epic athletic experiences. Go to SweatWithTheBest.com for more information and how to use the cap codes.

The weekend activities begin at 7:00 a.m. Friday with a CMRA License school and a full day CMRA racer practice. Registration opens for all activities at 6:30 a.m. Friday ends with a wedding for CMRA racer Alonzo Contreras and fiancé Lacy Short at the finish line on track. Everyone is invited to attend the short ceremony immediately following Friday practice.

Saturday’s schedule begins with a full slate of Mini and Lightweight Sprint races, including the Four81Motos-sponsored Grom Challenge, and Rainbow Sox Racing-sponsored Junior Motard class for the youngest racers, ages 8-12 years old. The 5th round of the CMRA Ultra-Lightweight Endurance Series, a 2-hour race, begins promptly at 10:45 a.m. on the 2.38 mile course. Racing concludes with the 6th and final round of Championship Endurance race, at 5:30 p.m. also on the 2.38 mile course. A trophy presentation and meet and greet followed by the CMRA end of season Pizza and Halloween Party is a welcome finish to the full day of racing. Be sure to bring your little Trick or Treaters; there will be candy handed out in the paddock and a Pit Decorating and Costume contest as well.

Sunday’s schedule is jam-packed with a full day’s worth of competitive Big Bike Sprint races. Among the exciting classes not to be missed is the Breast Cancer Research Foundation / P1 Racing Formula 1 Expert class. In addition to a cash purse totaling $11,000 paid out to the top Formula 1 Expert finishers over the course of the 2015 season, a portion of each entry fee is donated to Breast Cancer Research. A few of the other weekend purse paying classes include, Remember Brook Gremmels A Superbike Endurance ($225), RaceworX – A Superstock Expert ($165) and South Central Race Center – C Superstock Expert ($185). A full list of sponsored classes and payouts can be found here: http://www.cmraracing.com/content.php?9-sponsors.

There is live timing and scoring available for all the races via the Race-Monitor App on mobile devices and online at cmraracing.com/timing.html.

Gates open each day at 6:00 a.m. and we race rain or shine! Weekend entry into the event is only $20 on Thursday, $15 on Friday and Saturday, and just $10 on Sunday. Tickets are good for the entire weekend. Ride your street bike to the event and you’ll pay just $5 for entry on both Saturday and Sunday! Kids 12 and under are free. A spectator lap of the track will be conducted during the lunch break on Sunday, schedule and weather permitting. Bring a cooler or visit the on-site concession stand serving both breakfast and lunch each day.
