Colin Edwards Sr., father of two-time Superbike World Champion Colin Edwards II, says he has an inoperable brain tumor that will likely kill him, and that he is “totally cool with that.”

In a Facebook post earlier this week, Edwards Sr. described his medical condition as “a cancerous growth on the left side of my brain under my left temple. It’s inoperable & I’m told it will finally kill me but I’m totally cool with that.” Edwards Sr. added, “I’m 21 years on my liver transplant, so I should have been dead 21 years ago so if this gets me in the near future I’m good with that.”

Edwards Sr. says he has difficulty with memory, mobility and arm and hand function, but is “living life to the fullest.”

“My body is not in very good shape & it’s always hard to get around,” he wrote. “Walking with a stick is a necessity! So I’m just living life to the fullest. This thing in my head has been messing with my memory, (and) my hands are shaking (and) jerking around some, so I’m living life as I can …”

Edwards Sr. raced motorcycles as an amateur, and has been a fixture in the career of his son, a MotoGP podium finisher and three-time Suzuka 8-Hours winner.

Edwards Sr. is active on his Facebook page, which can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/colin.edwardssr?fref=ts
