Colin Edwards’ Texas Tornado Boot Camp hosted its inaugural Boot Camp this past weekend at Edwards’ Boot Camp facility in Conroe, Texas. By all accounts it was both a huge success and a Texas-sized good time, too. There were plenty of things to do for each of the 20 guests during the 4-Day Edwards Experience, some of whom travelled from as far away as Canada to attend and receive personal on-track and classroom instruction from Colin and his staff of experienced instructors. Boot Camp guests received a special treat when reigning AMA Superbike champion Josh Hayes and his wife, AMA racer, Melissa Paris, dropped by and hung out for the duration of the camp, and assisted with the student instruction. It was no surprise to anyone that Melissa can ride the wheels off a little dirt bike, and she demonstrated her skills to the guests, and Josh is a natural; he can jump on just about anything and go fast right away, and he did. Besides the incredible amount of track time that each student received on the facility’s many tracks, (being at Colin’s Boot Camp means never having to say, “It was nice, but I wish I could have ridden the bike more”, you know), guests also spent time playing paintball, water skiing on Lake Conroe, driving remote controlled cars, skeet shooting, driving go-karts, and enjoying some good old homemade Texas barbecue and live entertainment. And, of course, guests and staff both participated in the soon-to-be-legendary Super Pole events.
