Colin Edwards will ride a Yamaha-powered Claiming Rule Team (CRT) machine for Forward Racing in the 2012 FIM MotoGP World Championship. That announcement came during a press conference September 2 at Misano, with Edwards saying, “I’ve always been a good test rider, and I’m happy that this will be my next challenge.” Edwards stated that his machine would have a Yamaha engine and then indicated that he hoped Tech 3, his current team, would provide the chassis. Tech 3 currently builds a chassis that is competitive in the FIM Moto2 World Championship. Forward Racing, which is sponsored by mobile phone manufacturer NGM Italia, currently fields riders in the Moto2 and 125cc GP World Championships and in the CIV Italian National Championship.
