The Moto Talbott Museum is the passion project of Robb Talbott, who was born on the East Coast but as a kid moved with his family to the Monterey Peninsula in the 1950s.
”My parents said I couldn’t have a motorcycle. They were too dangerous,” said Talbott. “I went off to college [to study Fine Art and Design] at 17 and cars were not allowed on campus for Freshmen. So, what did I buy? A motorcycle…”

When Robb Talbott heard of the Guggenheim Museum’s “The Art Of The Motorcycle” exhibit, it struck a chord with him. “It opened up the concept that motorcycles are art,” said Talbott, “and I had never thought of that even though I had studied Art. All of a sudden, I went, ‘Aah!’ What I had been racing and riding and wrenching on weren’t just bikes. They were Art. My light bulbs went off, and I started thinking about opening a museum.” Read the story about a world-class collection that is a testament to one man’s appreciation of the motorcycle as art—it’s in the latest issue of Roadracing World!
