John Hopkins will test a Stiggy Motorsport Honda CBR1000RR next week at Almeria, Spain, and plans to race in World Superbike races at Valencia the weekend of April 3-5. “John is very happy that all his personal sponsors are continuing with him, Monster Energy, Alpinestars, Arai and Spy Optics,” said former 125cc Motocross World Champion Bob Moore, who is Hopkins’ personal manager. “Judging by the first race, it seems like the bike is pretty competitive,” said Moore. “Obviously we just want to be in a position to get John over there and racing. It seems like a good bike. Everybody else was, how much money do you have? Things are tough, even though it’s John Hopkins. We feel it will give John a good solid baseline to hopefully get on the box and get some wins eventually.” Hopkins was under contract through 2009 with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, which first pulled out and then downscaled its MotoGP program for 2009. But after months of negotiations “We’ve settled our differences amicably and both sides are happy,” said Moore, who declined to reveal details of the settlement.
