Celtic Racing Arrives At Barber After Two Wins At Last Round Of Races
Celtic Racing is excited to return to Barber Motorsports Park outside of Birmingham, Alabama for the third round of the 2013 AMA Pro Road Racing season this weekend. The team experienced great success and a difficult injury at Road America with Corey Alexander winning both SuperSport races, James Rispoli taking two seventh place finishes in Daytona Sport Bike, and Caroline Olsen being injured at the beginning of Sunday’s SuperSport race two.
Corey Alexander has been training and preparing for Barber since Road America wrapped up several weeks ago. Corey’s two wins on his #5 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 were his first two victories of the season, and his first double win weekend in AMA Pro Road Racing. Corey stated enthusiastically “After coming off of two wins last race at Road America I’m very excited to keep the momentum going aboard my National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600. Thankfully we went testing last month at Barber and I am confident with what we learned that we will come out swinging. I’m very excited to ride, I know my guys have been working hard back at the shop and the bikes will be just as good as they were at Road America. Thanks to everyone who congratulated me after my wins, hopefully we can get a few more!”
James Rispoli worked hard at Road America and battled with the lead group in Daytona Sport Bike on his #43 National Guard Celtic Racing Suzuki GSX-R 600 in Sunday’s race two. James had a great 2012 weekend at Barber, winning SuperSport race two on Sunday and finishing third in race one on Saturday, a track he definitely understands and enjoys. James said “Coming into Barber I feel great. I have put in a lot of work and have been training in intense heat to be ready for the hot Alabama atmosphere. After Road America we had a small test and I felt we made huge strides improving the motorcycle and adapting to the new bike. I am ready to fight for podiums this weekend!”
Celtic Orient Express Racing’s Caroline Olsen suffered a broken shoulder at Road America, and after surgery in California by Dr. Arthur Ting, has just begun rehabilitation and therapy. Her determination, strength, and guts are simply incredible, and everyone appreciates all the get well wishes she has received since the accident. Caroline stated “My progress after the nasty crash at Road America is good. I received great news from Dr. Ting on Tuesday, and that gives me great hope that I can be back on my bike for the Laguna Seca round in a month! I wish I could be at Barber this weekend, we had a good test there a couple of weeks ago and I believe I could have taken my progress a huge step further. Thanks to everyone for supporting me the last couple of weeks, a special thanks to Barry Gilsenan and Jason Pridmore who have taken such good care of me. I’m very lucky to have such amazing people around me.”
CBS Sports Network will broadcast both Daytona Sport Bike races from Barber. Please check your local listings or visit http://www.cbssportsnetwork.com/channel-finder for more information. We do not have any information regarding broadcast of the SuperSport races at this time.
