WERA West Presented by Lucas Oil Products

Las Vegas Classic Course

April 3, 2016

Corey Sarros continued his unbeaten streak in WERA West Formula One competition in 2016, taking the win on Sunday to back up his Saturday win in the WERA West Sportsman Series Presented by Lucas Oil Products event at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Sarros opted to once again race his Superstock-spec Suzuki GSX-R1000, working through technical issues on that machine rather than trying to set up two different bikes for the 1.8-mile Classic Course. The plan worked to perfection, Sarros taking his Shades of Vail-backed, Pirelli-shod machine to a narrow 0.122-second margin over Sahar Zvik in the A Superstock race, then setting the fastest lap of the day – a 1:18.793 – on his way to a comfortable 3.567-second margin of victory in the Formula One race.

Zvik, who has moved up to the literbike class this year, was the only other rider all day in the 1:18 range, logging a 1:18.834 lap aboard his Kawasaki ZX-10R while chasing Sarros in the A Superbike race.

Christopher Carron came in third in both races aboard his ZX-10R, with Scott Tillery, Jay Millhiser, Brian Evans and Terry Heard completing the field in the Formula One event. Tillery took the A Superbike win over Carron and Zvik.

The middleweight races were intensely competitive contests that resulted in a wide variety of winners. Yaniv Attias took the C Superstock win on his Kawasaki ZX-6R, with Edgar Zaragoza winning the B Superstock race, Tyler Jones taking the C Superbike race and Brad Saenz the B Superbike race.
