Cornerspeed, now in their 8th season at Virginia International Raceway, has finalized their dates for the upcoming season. States Stevenson, “We are proud to call VIR home. Anyone that has been to VIR knows that it’s a fantastic track with a rich racing history. This track offers an incredible variety of turns and elevation changes that challenge even the best riders. It’s awesome for teaching and coaching.” The schedule begins in March and culminates in late October with the annual year end special event on the 4.15 mile Grand Course configuration of VIR. In addition to the school taught at VIR, Cornerspeed has a second school, Cornerspin- “Road Race Training in the Dirt” which is taught in Spencer, N.C. on their 40 acre property. This school is taught on minibikes (XR100’s and DRZ125’s) using flat track and motard techniques to allow riders to work beyond the limits of traction and work on advanced techniques of bike control. Says Stevenson, “We’re going into our second season with Cornerspin and this is catching on in a big way. This type of training has been used for the past 30 years starting with Kenny Roberts and continuing all the way up through the Haydens. It seems like it’s the best kept secret of the pros because only the best riders do it but once someone does it, they’re hooked. We’ve had excellent feedback from racers that have done this school as well as the sport riders.” Cornerspin is a two day school that runs year round with a more frequent schedule during the winter and spring months.
