A Corona-sponsored Honda Superbike team has been confirmed for the 2007 AMA Superbike Championship. “We’re going to be running a Honda Superbike,” said Tim Saunders, Team Principal of Corona Extra Racing, which currently races Suzukis in AMA Superbike and Superstock without direct support from American Suzuki. “At the moment, our program is to run one rider in Superbike. We will be supported by American Honda, and our program includes HRC support and the availability of HRC product. “We don’t have a rider confirmed yet. We’ve been talking to Adam ‘Krusty’ Fergusson, who is our number-one choice. That’s still not confirmed as of today. The whole program just came together in the last few weeks. “It’s a three-year deal with Corona and Honda. We’re really excited about that. It means we can build a program.” Saunders has not secured a tire supplier but said his team hoped to continue its relationship with Dunlop. Saunders said finalizing the new program so early would allow his team to do pre-season testing, something his team has been missing out on in the past. The Corona Honda deal will also include a large display component that will see Corona Honda replica racebikes included in consumer promotional displays at retail locations. Fergusson raced for Corona Extra Suzuki in the AMA Championship in 2002 and 2003, before returning to race in Australia from 2004 to present.
