Newly-crowned 2006 AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies, 1993 500cc GP World Champion Kevin Schwantz, AMA Superbike/Superstock regular John Haner and club racer Randall Kienast will team-up to race in today’s 6-hour Shogun Motorsports endurance race at the CMRA season finale at Texas World Speedway, in College Station, Texas. Spies, Schwantz, Haner and Kienast, all close friends, will share Kienast’s Suzuki GSX-R1000. Schwantz, who normally rides on Michelins, received permission from Michelin to ride the one-off race on Dunlops, while Haner chose to have Pirelli tires mounted on the bike during his stint. Spies started his racing career with CMRA.
