After he underwent surgery on his fractured arm, BMW Motorrad Motorsport works rider Troy Corser is on his way back to full recovery. München/Stephanskirchen, 21 June 2011. BMW Motorrad Motorsport works rider, Troy Corser (AUS), is on his way back to full recovery after he suffered clean fractures of ulna and radius in his left forearm during a crash at Motorland Aragón (ESP) on Sunday. Troy flew back to the United Kingdom on Monday morning. On Monday evening he underwent surgery to fix the broken ulna and radius. The operation was carried out at the Alexandra Hospital in Manchester (GBR) by surgeon Mike Hayton, a specialist for hand, wrist and elbow injuries. Hayton fixed the fractures with two titanium plates and twelve screws, six per bone. The operation went smoothly without any complications. Troy was able to leave the hospital soon after and is now recovering at home. In ten days he will undergo further examinations to see how the healing of the bones and the wound progresses. It is expected that he will be back to full recovery within some weeks’ time, but he will miss the next round of the FIM Superbike World Championship at Brno (CZE) that will take place from 8th to 10th July. Bernhard Gobmeier, BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director: “The whole team wishes Troy a speedy recovery and we are happy to hear that the surgery went so well. But we have decided that he will definitely not ride at the next round at Brno as his health and safety have highest priority for us. We will then see how his recovery progresses and will decide at a later time if he will participate at the British round at Silverstone end of July. If we will replace Troy by another rider at Brno is not decided yet. Troy is a part of our BMW family and for us the most important thing is that he recovers well and is back to full fitness as soon as possible. We will do anything we can do from our side to support him during his recovery.”
