Round four of the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association’s championship series at Hallett Motor Racing Circuit near Hallett, Oklahoma, saw no single rider dominate the action during the weekend’s sprint races. Perennial favorite Ty Howard went down on the warm-up lap of his first race of the day and the Weatherford, Texas resident sat out the remainder of the event with an injured back, opening the door for some of the CMRA’s young lions to have their day in the sun. When Sunday’s 17 sprint races were completed, only two riders, Cory West and Jon Francis, finished with more than one expert victory, with West taking wins in the RaceworX A Superstock race and in the Formula 1 race, while Francis finished off the week with wins in the D Superbike, Lightweight Twins and Unlimited Motard classes. In the remainder of the races the CMRA’s best shared the wealth, with Cory Burleson (B Superstock), Dustin Dominguez (South Central Race Center C Superstock), Michael Martin (D Superstock), Derek Wagnon (AVTEQ A Superbike), Mathew Lynn (B Superbike), Zac Chapman (Island Racing Services C Superbike), Conner Blevins (GMAN Racing 125 GP), Eric Falt (Exel Transportation Formula 2) and Ted Phillips (Heavyweight Twins) each taking wins. The very competitive age groups were won by Bill Erzal, who took the win in the Formula 40 Lightweight class, and Cecil Keeling, who won the F40 Heavyweight division. In other races, Tyler McDonald won the Super Motard race and Jess Foltz won the Road & Track Suspension E Superstock race. In the Novice divisions, Blake Cochran claimed four wins, including the Moto Liberty C Superstock and the Ridesmart C Superbike races. Tony Ta was next best with three wins, one of which came in the Ridesmart Lightweight Twins race. Saturday’s Big Bike CMRA Endurance race was dominated by CSCarey Racing (Chris Carey, Greg Anderson, Matt Hall, Brent Wood), who held a seven lap advantage at the end of five hours of racing to claim the overall win and first in the A Superbike class. Second overall and first in the C Superstock class went to Apex Racing (Dewayne Davis, Steve Nance, Tony Moore), the YZF-R6-mounted team just edging out Team Mancuso Powersports (Paul Wilkinson, Craig Clark, Bryan West, Dustin Meador, Randall Kienast) for the runner-up spot. The C Superbike division win went to Village Idiots (John Orchard, Chris Headley, Craig Montgomery, Chad Tieszen) with a fourth overall finish, meanwhile Faltless Racing (Eric Falt, Robert Bradlaw, Clayton Schutz, Bill Erzal, Chase Vivion) got back to winning form by taking the victory in the Formula 2 class with an eighth overall finish. The CMRA returns to action on June 13-14 at Oak Hill Raceway in Henderson, Texas, with a full slate of sprint racing, an 8-hour Mini Endurance race, an array of mini sprint races, and TMGP Sprints.
