COWELL TO FOCUS ON AHRMA ROAD RACE, LAMBERTH RETURNS AS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Cindy Cowell’s Statement: “I have enjoyed the great privilege and challenge of serving as both the Executive Director and Road Race Director for the American Historic Racing Motorcycle Association for the past two years. While I believe AHRMA has made great strides during my tenure as Executive Director, I recently notified the board of my decision not to accept the board’s offer to continue for a third year as the Executive Director.

“I made this decision in order to devote my full efforts to the Road Race Director position that I have been in for several years, continuing to improve the RR side of operations, while allowing a new ED to concentrate more fully on the overall association. This was a very difficult decision for me as I have grown to really appreciate all disciplines in AHRMA, but I FIRMLY believe that it is in the best interest of AHRMA and my own objectives.

“I want to sincerely thank all AHRMA members, officials and board members who offered their support, time and help during my time as ED. This is a great organization with the best people I know – I love AHRMA! I look forward to seeing you all at our events in the future!”

Cindy Cowell AHRMA Executive Director

CHAIRMAN: Dave Janiec’s Statement: “The AHRMA board of trustees expresses grateful appreciation and thanks to Cindy Cowell for her outstanding service to AHRMA as both the Executive Director and Road Race Director. While we regret her decision to step down as the Executive Director, we strongly support and commend her dedication to the best interests of AHRMA. Cindy Cowell stepped up to the plate at a most difficult time in AHRMA’s history, just as our insurance agency bankruptcy and litigation forced AHRMA into a chapter 11 reorganization with very limited funds and the real threat of complete failure of the association. Cindy successfully shepherded AHRMA through this tough period with uninterrupted competition operations for our members and we successfully emerged from the reorganization in early 2008.

“The board unanimously commended Cindy for the job she has done and for her courage and dedication in making this most difficult decision. We strongly support retaining Cindy as the Road Race Director and note with pleasure that she is the best one in North America. We are very pleased that she has chosen to continue in that capacity

“With a very short time before our 2009 events begin in February, we are pleased to announce Cindy’s successor as Executive Director, Mr. David Lamberth. As we enter one of the most difficult economic periods in our lifetime, David is uniquely qualified to help us make it through this period financially and continue to offer quality events for all our members. David brings both a strong business and accounting background from the corporate sector, as well as keen familiarity with AHRMA operations, key officials, volunteers, sponsors, promoters, etc. David formerly served as AHRMA’s ED from 2001 through 2006. He has been working with Cindy as a volunteer over the last year and has stayed closely connected with AHRMA operations.

“We welcome Dave and his lovely wife Desi back and look forward to their stewardship and leadership of AHRMA into the future.

“Dave will officially begin his term on January the first, and he and Cindy have already begun a collaborative transition with detailed planning for a great 2009 season!”

Dave Janiec Chairman, AHRMA Board of Trustees

David Lamberth’s Statement: “Desiree and I are very excited to have the opportunity to return to AHRMA. Having worked behind the scenes for the past two years with Cindy Cowell, the Board of Trustees and the many AHRMA volunteers, it seems like we never left the organization. I am very thankful for the hard work and effort Cindy has put into AHRMA over the past two years. I look forward to continuing to work with Cindy and the rest of the AHRMA organization as we move forward into 2009.

“I want to sincerely thank the organization for the opportunity to return to AHRMA. Since becoming involved in 2001, AHRMA has become a large part of our family’s life and we look forward to a bright future for the organization.”
