Isle of Man resident to appear in Arai parade lap ahead of Silverstone British MotoGP British motorcycle racer Cal Crutchlow is the latest MotoGP rider to confirm that he will be doing a parade lap during this year’s Isle of Man TT Races, fuelled by Monster Energy. The Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider has already enjoyed a successful start to his MotoGP career, finishing in 11th in Qatar and 8th in Jerez and Estoril. He currently stands 11th overall in the Championship standings with 21 points after yesterday’s race at Le Mans. Cal, 25, has enjoyed a rapid rise through the ranks, winning the 2006 British SupersportChampionship and making his British Superbike debut in 2007. He scored his maiden win at Thruxton in 2008 and finished 3rd overall before winning the 2009 World Supersport Championship and finishing 5th in the 2010 World Superbike championship. Five-time World Champion Mick Doohan, TT Rider Ian Hutchinson and fellow MotoGP rider Nicky Hayden will join him on the Arai parade lap, which is scheduled for Wednesday 8th June. Commenting on the news Cal said: “As a resident of the Isle of Man I’m obviously aware of the importance of the TT Races. I’ve been round the course many times but I’ve never had the chance to lap on a closed road. I’m really looking forward to experiencing the mountain course close up.” Paul Phillips, TT and Motorsport Manager, Isle of Man Government, commented: “Cal approached us when he heard that we were scheduling a parade lap for Mick Doohan and asked if we could accommodate him at the same time. We were delighted to help as he is one of the world’s leading racers and his endorsement will boost the profile of the event in the Mountain Course’s centenary year.”
