The highest bid so far in an eBay auction of Roger Hayden’s 2005 race-worn leathers to benefit the Roadracing World Action Fund is $660. In less than three days, the auction has been viewed nearly 500 times and received seven bids. The auction closes at approximately 4:00 p.m. PST Friday, February 3. Up for bid in the auction is a set of Roger Hayden’s one-piece Joe Rocket race leathers, as worn by the factory Kawasaki rider during the 2005 AMA race season. The leathers are green with black, white and yellow highlights; have the Kawasaki team logo, various sponsor logos and patches; and has “Roger Hayden 95″ in lettering on the back. The leathers have not been crashed but do show signs of wear. The suit has been autographed by Hayden on the upper left portion of the chest. The suit is a custom size but should fit someone standing approximately 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing approximately 145 pounds, Hayden donated the leathers for the specific purpose of auctioning them and 100% of the proceeds going to the Roadracing World Action Fund, which advocates and promotes the use of soft barriers to prevent racetrack injuries, and provides education on the value of adequate pre-race practice, rider training, and proper racetrack preparation.
