CVMA is gearing up for the start a new road racing season.
CVMA would like to announce the release of the 2021-2022 rulebook, new racing classes, payout schedule and updated procedures for the premier Shootout races. The club prides itself on being by racers for racers. Based on the feedback of the membership, there are many exciting changes for the new season.
In an effort to better prepare racers for the next step in their progression, CVMA has made several changes to the Shootout classes and procedures.
“We realize that many of our racers are looking to use our series as a stepping stone to the higher levels of racing in the U.S. (i.e. MotoAmerica) and other series around the world,” said Jay Tanner, race director for CVMA. “We have changed the Middleweight and Open shootout races to now run under our SuperSport rules to better align our premier races with the MotoAmerica Stock 1000 and SuperSport classes. We have also instituted a parc ferme inspection procedure for the riders qualifying and racing in the Shootout classes to better prepare our racers for what they may experience in other national-level race events.”
More information regarding these procedures is available in our updated rulebook and this will also be discussed in detail in a special rider’s meeting before the start of our first round in September.
As stated in an earlier press release, CVMA is stepping up in a big way by offering $130,000.00 in purse across four Shootout races: Open, Middleweight, Ultra Lightweight, and American Thunder. Purses will payout from first all the way to fifth place with a maximum of $3000 for a win. For additional information on this new payout schedule please refer to our previous press release or the Shootout Appendix in our updated rulebook.
“When someone comes to me with a bike that doesn’t fit in one of our existing classes, I’ve always said, if you can get enough riders to come out and race, we will make a class for you,” said Micky Grana, President of CVMA. “That is exactly what we have done for the large contingent of riders that wanted a place to race their American Twins bikes on a road course.”
In 2020, a lot of American Twins riders went through the CVMA new racer program. With the addition of a bagger class in MotoAmerica and the creation of the Bagger Racing League (BRL), riders came to CVMA to get a license and gain experience. For 2021, the club will now have two classes dedicated to the American Twins plus a new Shootout race with a sizable payout.
CVMA will kick off the 2021/2022 winter series the weekend of September 25th and 26th with a double points event. Excluding the shootouts.
The series will continue on Oct 30-31 and Dec 11-12. Dates for the final four rounds of the series will be set for Jan, Feb, Mar, Apr but exact dates are still TBD. The final round will also be a double points event.

Racers are encouraged to review the updated rulebook that is available for download from our website to make sure they are aware of any changes.
CVMA offers two full days of racing every race weekend and also includes Saturday qualifying for grid position in all classes, amateur, and expert, as well as a wide variety of classes to choose from.
