Round Four of the CVMA 2022/2023 Winter Series kicked off under sunny skies and a super-fast racetrack. Racers going faster than ever! Lap records were set and then bettered throughout the weekend in multiple classes.

On Friday, the New Racer School granted nine new racing licenses to an enthusiastic group of racers that will be joining the CVMA ranks.

David Anthony was fastest on a Lightweight turning a 1:50.933, and Owen Williams turned a 1:56.516 to put him at the top of the timesheets for the Ultra-Lightweights.

Sunday

In CVMA’s premier race, the Stock 1000 Shootout, Corey Alexander was able to get the holeshot starting from the second row and lead at the start of the race. On lap one, Alexander was leading with Prince in second and Anthony third. All three riders were nose-to-tail across the line. Anthony was able to slot into second on lap three pushing Prince back to third. Anthony was then able to make a brave pass in Turn Five on lap seven to take the lead and was able to pad his lead for the remainder of the race. At the finish, it was Anthony for the win with Alexander second, Prince third.

The best race of the weekend had to be the Supersport Middleweight Shootout. David Kohlstaedt holeshot, but Ketelsen took the lead right away with an inside pass in Turn Four. On the first lap, Ketelsen led Kohlstaedt followed by Michael Gilbert (still recovering from injuries sustained last year). At the front of the race, Ketelsen and Kohlstaedt were glued together riding inches apart the entire lap. On lap three, Aldo Rovirosa was able to pass Gilbert to take third position only to have Gilbert regain the position on lap five. Meanwhile at the front, Kohlstaedt showed Ketelsen a wheel several times on lap five and then took the lead on lap six. Kohlstaedt held on until the end with Ketelsen making several attempts at passes on the last lap. In the end it was Kohlstaedt (first), Ketelsen (second), and Gilbert (third) on the podium.

The result for the Formula Ultra-Lightweight Shootout was established early in the race. Williams got the holeshot and win. Kreece Elliott took second away from Quinn Swift on lap two and the order was set.

In the Lightweight Shootout, Anthony got the holeshot and ran away at the front, taking the win and setting a new lap record for the class in the process. Justin Bordonaro finished second and Gio Alvarez was third.
