Round six of the CVMA 24/25 Winter Series was an incredible event. Racers from all over the U.S., Canada, and Mexico gathered in the California desert for a fantastic weekend of racing.
On Friday, the new racer school graduated another four racers who would join the club and race as amateurs over the weekend.
Saturday Qualifying
Perfect weather greeted the riders at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway on Saturday morning for the start of qualifying. With cool temperatures and very little wind to start the day, riders were able to set some very fast lap times in their efforts to secure pole position for the upcoming races.
The fastest in Saturday morning qualifying, Bryce Prince topped the field of open-class bikes, turning a 1:43.672 lap time.
–Brenden Ketelsen was fastest on a middleweight bike, turning a 1:45.903 lap time.
–Justin Bordonaro was fastest on a lightweight bike with a 1:50.392 lap time.
–Alex George was fastest on an ultra-lightweight bike with a 1:55.752 lap time.

Saturday Races
Saturday’s racing was exciting, featuring several close battles across various classes. Gio Alvarez set a new lap record in the Formula 40 Lightweight class with a 1:52.156 lap time.
Sunday
Brenden Ketelesen set a new lap record in the Supersport Middleweight race, turning a 1:44.939 lap time. In the premier race of the day, the Stock 1000 Shootout, Michael Gilbert (BPR Yamaha YZF-R1) led into turn one and, for the first lap of the race, followed by Deion Campbell (BPR Yamaha YZF-R1) and Bryce Prince (BPR Yamaha YZF-R1) in second and third, respectively. Campbell made a brave pass on the brakes into turn four to take the race’s lead on the second lap, demoting Gilbert to second. On the third lap, Prince made an inside pass on Gilbert between turns six and seven. Prince closed a gap to the leader Campbell over laps four and five and then made a pass for the lead on lap six. Unfortunately, Campbell had a spectacular high-side crash in turn 15 on lap eight, which promoted Gilbert to second and Igor Sokolov (Yamaha YZF-R1) to third. At the finish, it was Prince for the win, followed by Gilbert in second and Sokolov in third.
