David Anthony Eclipses Track Record at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway with Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike Slicks

Stefano Mesa Tops Championship Cup Series Lap Record at Homestead-Miami Speedway

ROME, Ga. (December 10, 2020) – Pirelli Tire North America congratulates FLY Racing rider David Anthony on capturing the brand’s seventh absolute motorcycle track record of the 2020 season. Anthony’s impressive riding set the track record at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway in Desert Center, California on Sunday, December 6 aboard a Pirelli DIABLO™ Superbike-equipped GSX-R1000. It marked the second track record of the year for the Australian who also set the pace at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in March.

“It’s a good feeling to walk away with the track record at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway,” said Anthony. “This is a track that has faced a lot of great riders and is challenging each time we visit here. I’m so pleased with how my DIABLO™ Superbike slicks have performed this season, especially with the 125/70 and 200/65 sizing that were introduced a few months ago. These tires truly help give the extra edge that is needed over the competition.”

The lap record of 1:43.253 was set by Anthony during the Formula Open class that saw his Suzuki motorcycle fitted with Pirelli’s DIABLO™ Superbike 125/70-17 SC1 front and 200/65-17 SC0 rear slicks.

“I’m extremely impressed with Dave’s [David Anthony] ability to adapt and continue to ride strong, said Oscar Solis, road racing manager, Pirelli. “Everyone at Pirelli is glad to be a part of his continued success. This is the second time this season that he’s managed to set a track record, showcasing just how capable the new, larger DIABLO™ Superbike front and rear tire sizing is on the racetrack.”

Pirelli’s dominance on the weekend didn’t stop with Anthony as Stefano Mesa piloted his Kawasaki NINJA® ZX™-10R to nine race wins and the Championship Cup Series (CCS) and American Sportbike Racing (ASRA) series lap records at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Homestead, Florida. Mesa relied on the performance of Pirelli’s DIABLO™ Superbike 125/70-17 SC1 front and 200/65-17 SCX rear slicks.

Racer’s throughout the nation have consistently chosen Pirelli as the tire of choice to reach the top step of the podium when competing when competing at their own racing events. Pirelli continues to offer a tire credit prize for setting a new motorcycle track record and four different riders have managed to capture a track record so far this season.
