CHUCKWALLA VALLEY MOTORCYCLE ASSOCIATION
Desert Center, Riverside County, California
Chuckwalla Valley Motorcycle Association will have a final “double points” round for the 2019-20 Season to be held on May 30-31, 2020. On April 20, 2020, the County of Riverside eased some of the restrictions set forth in the Amended Order Of The Health Officer For The County Of Riverside And Of The County Executive Officer As Director Of Emergency Services, Dated April 20, 2020. The Order now allows for people to engage in “non-contact outdoor sports” in “outdoor areas.”
“Motorcycle road racing is a non-contact sport, and our track sits on over 1000 acres surrounded by beautiful desert,” stated Micky Grana, co-owner of Chuckwalla Valley Raceway and CVMA. Grana also stated, “We are preparing the premises to conform to the amended Order and the social distancing rules currently in place, and the event will not be open to spectators.”
Grana concluded with, “We wanted to finish this race season right, and with so many class championships separated by just a few points, we are thrilled to be able to open for this year’s final race weekend. This time of year, the temperature can be a factor, so we intend to start the races earlier and reduce the number of laps per race if need be.”
CVMA will be releasing new social distancing requirements that all racers must comply with to participate. The management at CVMA is continuing to follow the steady stream of updates on novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and the impact this pandemic is having on the United States, the State of California and the County of Riverside. As stated before, CVMA strongly encourages all racers to adhere to the provisions of any Order their respective governing authority may enact, to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19.
