HITTING THE APEX Screenings at selected Dainese D-Store Locations to Benefit The Marco Simoncelli Foundation

Los Angeles, CA (January 15, 2016) – To honor the January 20 birthdate of the late Marco Simoncelli (one of the MotoGP racers profiled in the hit film, HITTING THE APEX), filmmaker Mark Neale has joined with Dainese’s D-Stores in Orange County (CA) and San Francisco (CA) to hold a benefit screening of HITTING THE APEX on Wednesday, January 20th, at each of their respective locations. Tickets will be sold at the door for ten dollars each (cash only), and the proceeds will be donated to the *Marco Simoncelli Foundation set up by Marco’s father, Paolo Simoncelli, and Carlo Pernat, Marco’s manager. More details can be found on the Facebook event pages for both Dainese D-Store Orange County and Dainese D-Store San Francisco.

In addition, D-Store Orange County in partnership with M1GP American Mini Motorcycle Road Racing Association will be raffling off a beautiful AGV K3-SV Simoncelli replica helmet at their January 20th screening. Proceeds of this raffle will also be donated to the Marco Simoncelli Foundation. Those who buy a ten-dollar attendance ticket will automatically be entered to win the helmet. If people cannot make it to the screening, but would still like to enter the helmet raffle, they can purchase ten-dollar raffle tickets here (only accepting PayPal). The winner need not be present to win. Again, since the raffle ticket also serves as your admission to the Orange County screening, it can be purchased in advance of attending the screening.

Even if you do not live near one of the D-Store screenings, you can still participate in spirit: We encourage you to gather with a group of friends and watch HITTING THE APEX on January 20th and make a donation directly to the Marco Simoncelli Foundation. If you don’t already have a copy of the film, you can purchase it on iTunes.

About the *Marco Simoncelli Foundation: The Marco Simoncelli Foundation is a non-profit social welfare organization that supports humanitarian projects and actively collaborates with public and private charitable initiatives to provide solidarity and assistance to disadvantaged people, particularly children and young people. All Foundation work is done to honor worthily and permanently Marco Simoncelli’s memory.

About HITTING THE APEX: Directed by Mark Neale and narrated by Brad Pitt, HITTING THE APEX is the story of six fighters, six of the fastest motorcycle racers the world has ever seen, and of the fates that awaited them at the peak of the sport, when the speeds had never been higher or the competition more intense. The film is available on Region 1 (USA and Canada) DVD + BluRay exclusively on the HITTING THE APEX website as well as the USA iTunes Store. ”A masterwork of motorsports filmmaking.” – Charles Fleming, LA Times

About Mark Neale: Mark Neale’s recent work includes FASTEST (2011), the sequel to his 2004 global smash hit FASTER, and the award-winning CHARGE (2012)
