BILANSKY RIDES BUELL TO PRO THUNDERBIKE TITLE AT VIR Richardson is Second in Pro Thunderbike and Wins Four CCS Sprints ALTON, Va. (September 21, 2009) Hal’s H-D/Buell/Hal’s Speed Shop rider Dan Bilansky clinched the 2009 Pro Thunderbike championship in the ASRA Michelin Pro Series, riding a Buell XB12R to a third-place finish at Virginia International Raceway. The race was won by the defending Pro Thunderbike champion, BMW rider Nate Kern. Ray Price Harley-Davidson/Buell rider Jordon Richardson was second on another Buell XB12R. Bilansky, who also won the ASRA Pro Thunderbike title on a Buell in 2006, said that without the help of the Soundwaves.com/H-D/Buell of Frederick team and its riders, Joe and Sam Rozynski, he might not have won this championship. “On two occasions, including this weekend, Sam and Joe loaned me a bike when mine was not ready to race,” said Bilansky. “This season we did not always have all of the top Pro Thunderbike contenders at every race, but we faced a lot of challenges in the shop to keep the bikes on the track. In fact I was not planning on running the entire series until after I won the first race at Daytona, and then I thought I should go for another championship. It’s exciting to bring this title back to Buell, and to get another one under my belt.” Bilansky’s closest rival in the series, Hal’s Harley-Davidson/Buell/Hal’s Speed Shop rider Joel Spalding, did not attend the race at VIR. Kern led all Pro Thunderbike qualifiers at VIR with a lap time of 1:32.77. Richardson qualified second with a time of 1:34.36. At the start of the nine-lap Pro Thunderbike National, Kern took the lead and opened a gap on Richardson. Bilansky followed in third, and the three riders completed the race in that order, each unable to mount a challenge for position. Buell rider Joe Rozynski (Soundwaves.com/H-D/Buell of Frederick) was fourth, followed by Sam Rozynski (Soundwaves.com/H-D/Buell of Frederick), also on a Buell XB12R. After nine events on the 10-race 2009 ASRA Michelin Pro Series Thunderbike schedule, Bilansky has clinched the title and leads the class with 226 points. Joe Rozynski moves up to second place with 179 points, followed by Spalding with 171 points, Sam Rozynski with 168, Kern with 163 and Richardson in sixth place with 124. The next event on the ASRA Michelin Pro Series schedule is the 26th Annual Race of champions, October 16-19 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Fla.
