From a press release issued by USGPRU:
Iso wins the battle, Jones wins the war!
On 4 October, 24 of the nations top 125GP riders converged on the Thunderhill Raceway to do battle for the USGPRU national championship.
The combination of clear skies, mid 80 degree temps, and the technically challenging Thunderhill racetrack made for the perfect setting for one of the closest championship battles in years. Going into this round, all of the top 9 riders had a mathematical chance to win enough points to clinch the title.
After lunch Saturday, AFM F3 Champion, Will Morton, threw down the fastest time during qualifying and captured pole position.
At the drop of the green flag, Dan Jones nailed one of his signature launches and watched most of the field enter turn one ahead of him. That
freight train of riders was lead by Morton, Iso, Dadej, and Jon Schendel. This group pulled a small gap from the second pack containing JD Schendel, Aitken-Cade, Neves, Orien, and Mike Jarrard.
The biggest threat to Dan Jones winning the championship was Erik Dadej. If Dadej won the race, Jones would have to finish in the top three to win. Dan Jones was able to regroup after his lousy start, and worked his way back up to the front pack. He couldn’t pass Dadej for the win, but was able to keep him in sight.
Iso and Morton swapped the lead position seemingly every lap of the 12 lap race, with Iso finally holding off Will for the win. Dadej crossed in third place, followed by Schendel then Jones.
