Alexander LUNDH, Sweden (Honda CBR600RR), 1:50.614 More, from a press release issued by Ten Kate Honda: Fabien Foret continued his recent good form by setting the fourth fastest time in this afternoon’s final qualifying session in preparation for tomorrow’s fourth round World Supersport championship race at Monza in Italy. The French ace, who won the title with the Ten Kate Honda team in 2002, endured a tough start to the 2011 season but took a front row start and a podium finish last time out at Assen in the Netherlands. His young team-mate and compatriot, Florian Marino, set the seventh fastest time as British rider Chaz Davies secured pole position. Marino is satisfied with the progress his team has made with his Hannspree Ten Kate Honda CBR600RR and is looking forward to tomorrow’s 16-lap race around the 5.777km Monza circuit. Fabien Foret – P4 I am much happier than I was yesterday, but I was pretty sure then that we had something for the front row I just ran out of time. A s long as I can get away well here, then I’m sure we can be near the front when it’s important. I like this place, and the bike and the team are working really well so I’m looking forward to fine-tuning things a little bit in warm-up tomorrow and seeing what we can do in the race. Florian Marino – P7 I am very happy because we found a good way forward today, especially to improve the bike under braking. I’m also happy because I rode by myself and the lap times were coming quite easily which gives me more confidence for the race tomorrow. When I tried to go for a faster time to put me up a little higher, I came across some slower riders which meant I could not get on the front row. But I think that if I can get away with the leading group tomorrow then I can challenge at the front again like at Assen. Ronald ten Kate team manager Well, the faces in t he garage are a lot happier tonight, despite the fact that Florian has slipped from a provisional front row to the second line. He is showing consistent speed so I am sure he is ready to race tomorrow. Fabien’s crew has worked really hard today to help him get the bike sorted. We’re still a little unsure about tyre choice and, basically, it’s going to have to be a decision we take on the grid. More, from a press release issued by Yamaha ParkinGO Team: Chaz Davies did another pole position for the Yamaha ParkinGO Team at the home track. A result that confirms the motivation of the bristish rider, winner of the last round of the championship three weeks ago at the dutch track in Assen. Chaz, quick in all sessions of the weekend, has improved again today his time from his best yesterday with an advantage of 0.2 seconds from the second. Luca Scassa finished in 6th position after a crash without consequences. The italian rider hasn’t been able to improve his time after the great effort of the team fixing his bike. Chaz Davies – Yamaha YZF R6 #7 – “We have worked very well during the two days. I think we are ready for the race where my goal will be to win as I did in Assen. It won’t be easy though and I think my main rival will be my teammate. Even though he crashed today, I am quite sure that tomorrow he will be there fighting. I will do my best to leave Monza as the leader of the championship.” Luca Scassa – Yamaha YZF R6 #9 – “The crash from today didn’t allow me to be on the first row, result that I would have liked to be. When I came back to the track the tyre was already finished and I lost the chance to do a good time. I am convinced that tomorrow I will be able to be with the front guys fighting and hopefully win to extend my advantage in the championship.” More, from a press release issued by Kawasaki: Parkes Jumps To A Front Row Starting Position Despite suffering a crash on another rider’s oil in the morning session today Broc Parkes bounced back to take third place on the grid for Sunday’s race and put himself in a strong pre-race position Broc has suffered two crashes over the weekend but recovered from each to post impressive times on his Ninja ZX-6R. Sitting only three points behind championship leader Luca Scassa, who qualified sixth, Parkes is keen to get off the line sharply and ensure he stays with the front group at a track that demands clever use of slipstreaming to get the best results. David Salom was only able to take part in the first qualifying session and thus slipped from eighth to 14th on the grid. Technical issues played a part in stopping him from setting an even better lap time in the final session but the team is working hard to make sure David has a competitive package to take into the 16-lap Supersport race on Sunday. Massimo Roccoli from the Lorenzini by Leoni Kawasaki team went into the top ten in qualifying, his team-mate Vittorio Iannuzzo found it tougher going and qualified 19th. Broc Parkes: “I feel happy with where we ended up and we always aim to get on the front row. I had a bit of an off today on someone else’s oil on the track and we were pretty lucky that we had enough time to fix the bike while they were cleaning the oil spill on the track. I was happy on a soft tyre at the end and I made such a big jump using it that maybe we need to sit down and look at that. A good start is needed tomorrow and I think there will be a big group of us. There may be a big freight train tomorrow and as long as nobody gets a break up front it may be a very interesting race!” David Salom: “We had some issues in practice and today was not so good for me. I had a problem in the morning and in the afternoon we found some other issues when we fitted another engine. The mechanics will do a good job to get us ready for the race and we will see how we go tomorrow. I like the track so I will work hard to try and make up some places in the early laps.”
