Luke Luciano (Yam YZF-R6), 1:41.058 More, from a press release issued by LTD Racing: PUERTA FOURTH, NASH FIFTH IN LAGUNA SUPERSPORT PRACTICE FOR LTD RACING Monterey, CA (July 23, 2010) — Tomas Puerta and Huntley Nash both practiced in the top five at Laguna Seca on Friday as LTD Racing kicked off their AMA Pro SuperSport weekend at the USGP with a sole session on the day. Sam Nash came back strong from his tough Mid-Ohio event and found his form in his first day ever at the California track. Puerta spent much of the session in third place and was relegated one spot in the final moments. The hard-charging Colombian thinks more is possible. “I wasn’t really thinking about lap times out there today,” said Puerta, from Medellin, Colombia. “I was trying to get comfortable with the bike for the race. We made plenty of changes to the bike today, some that worked and some that didn’t. We tried a rear setting I did not like so much and I think I set my best time with that. We’ll go back to the rear being the way it was before for qualifying and we should be good.” Tomy’s best lap on Friday was 1:31.379. Nash, the Elkhart Lake AMA Pro SuperSport race winner, was without his A-bike for the session but showed remarkable composure on the team’s backup machine. Huntley managed a last-lap flyer to put himself in fifth place with a time of 1:31.540 on the final lap of practice. “We came here to compete for the win and I was frustrated in not being able to have my A-bike. Fifth isn’t bad for the type of session we had today but I’m looking forward to tomorrow when we can give it another shot.” Sam Nash, LTD Racing’s part-time Top Gun competitor, impressed by finishing in the top half of a packed SuperSport field in his first day ever at Laguna Seca. “To me, the lap times meant nothing because I felt like I was riding the way I wanted to ride at Mid-Ohio. I was able to slide around and get a good rhythm on the track,” said Sam. “That’s what was important to me. I think I might have done more laps in practice than anyone else and I was having a blast out there. The weekend has gotten off to a great start. I feel fir with the hand and I’m really looking forward to the race.” Sam’s time, 1:34.896, was good for 14th place. The 18-lap AMA Pro Laguna SuperSport race begins at 5:30 PM local time.
