Austin DeHaven, age 16, will make his AMA SuperSport debut this coming weekend May 14th-15th at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, California on board his Lee’s Cycles-built DD Racing Yamaha YZF-R6. DeHaven just turned the required 16 years of age on April 17th and has been looking forward to this moment for some time. “We couldn’t start the season with the rest of the teams because my age,” said DeHaven, “but now that I am 16 I am really looking forward to taking to the grid.” Austin, a Southern California native and resident of Los Angeles, considers Infineon Raceway on his list of favorite tracks after qualifying on the front row and taking a podium finish for the Red Bull U.S. AMA Red Rookies Cup event in 2008. “Its been a wild ride to get here,” said Eric DeHaven, Austin’s father. “We’ve done so much preparation and so many great companies have come on board to help us get here. With such a limited budget we have really relied on their support. And bringing crew chief Robert Ward on board to help tune for Austin has been such a huge advantage for us. Dad tuning only takes you so far.” Thanks to all our partners: KBC Helmets, Shift Leathers, TCX Boots, Motosport.com, California Superbike School, PSR-USA, Lees Cycle Service, Bazzaz Performance, CT Racing, Factory Bodyworks, Slednecks, and Hypercycle Track days. We couldn’t do it without you! For more info visit www.austindehaven.com.
