Heavy overnight rains continuing into the morning and the mess they have caused have forced officials to make some changes to Sunday’s schedule at the BigM Weekend at Miller Motorsports Park. “Track clean up due to the rain,” according to AMA Pro Racing Director of Communications John Szymanski, is the official cause of the delay. “There was some puddling in some areas caused by some clogged drains and there was also some mud runoff in one section of the Western end of the track that had to be addressed.” AMA Director of Road Racing David McGrath added that Turn Six was the affected area. As a result, AMA Pro SuperSport Final Qualifying has been pushed back from its original 8:00 8:30 a.m. time slot to 8:30-8:55 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time (MDT), AMA Pro Daytona SportBike Final Qualifying has changed from two groups (8:40-9:00 a.m. and 9:05-9:25 a.m.) to a single qualifying group (9:05-9:35 a.m.) and AMA Pro Superbike Final Qualifying has moved from 9:35-10:15 a.m. to 9:45-10:15 a.m. In addition, the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike race and the final qualifying session for the AMA Pro XR1200 class have been flip-flopped on Sunday afternoon’s schedule. The XR1200 class will now qualify from 3:55-4:25 p.m., before the Daytona Sportbike race, which is now scheduled to start at 4:40 p.m. This change was made to better accommodate the needs of AMA Pro Racing’s television partners, said Szymanski. FIM Superbike World Championship’s final qualifying, second free practice and Superpole sessions have not been affected by these schedule changes.
