DUCATI MONSTER CHALLENGE HEADS TO DAYTONA WITH NEW WINNERS FROM DETROIT AND MONTREAL The final two rounds of the Monster Challenge brought two new winners to the grand finale in Daytona this week during Daytona Bike Week. March 9th, 2005 – Cupertino, CA – The final two rounds of the Ducati Monster Challenge are complete and Ducati North America now has the 12 best Monsters in North America on-site in Daytona Beach, Florida for Bike Week. Winning bikes and wildcards from the eight rounds of the Monster Challenge were transported to Daytona for this grand finale scheduled for Friday, March 11th during the Ducati.net Ducati Day Daytona Party. The last additions to this list of winners came from Detroit and Montreal earlier this month. In Detroit, Lou Mylenek took top honors with his 1994 Monster 900 and beautiful Ducati Performance custom painted fuel tank. But he says his favorite part is the exhaust system. “I changed the exhaust and I still can’t wipe the grin off my face,” stated Lou. Second place in Detroit went to Michael Gross of Dexter, MI with his airbrushed 1994 M900. Bill Keros’ Monster S4R rounded out the podium and also took the honor of being the “People’s Choice” winner. This Monster was modified by Section 8 Superbike and boasts dramatic modifications like a NOS system, 145 hp, and a 210-section rear tire. The Montreal Monster Challenge was not just the only Canadian round of the search, but also had the most women-owned Monsters in the show. First place went to the Monster “drag” bike owned by Chris Nicolaou of Port Perry, Ontario. This bike has a nitrous system and makes 120 hp. The extended swingarm also makes this bike an eye-catching piece. Chris boasts that his monster is cool because, “It has character and life. It’s probably the only one of its kind and it will beat any Harley out there.” Lynne Castonguay won second place with her black 1994 Monster 900, a beautiful edition of an original Ducati Monster. A unique mix of Monster 620, 900, and 748 Superbike won 3rd place. Sylvie Labelle’s bike has the Monster look in the front and Superbike look in the rear. Finally, the popular “People’s Choice” went to Pierre Gendron of Montreal and his spectacular Monster Chromo. This week, on Friday, March 11th in Daytona Beach Florida, Ducati North America and a panel of celebrity judges will announce who has the coolest Monster in North America. The winner will take home a 2005 Monster S4R.
