Andy DiBrino and Devon McDonough Each Take Formula Ultra Wins during OMRRA’s Round 2 at Portland International Raceway.

The start of the race weekend delivered sunny skies and warm temperatures Saturday but did an about face on Sunday reverting to seasonally expected rainy skies. In the KFG Racing Formula Ultra Championship Andy DiBrino picked up the Formula Ultra win passing Devon McDonough in the ultra high speed braking zone of Turn 1 on the final lap. In Sunday’s race, McDonough would return the favor by outpacing DiBrino to the line in the wet. Sam Verderico was able to keep pace with the leaders but in the final stages of the races was unable to mount a charge to challenge DiBrino and McDonough for the wins. Verderico, sitting 3rd in the championship, is still in a position to win individual races and make a run for the championship.

In EDR Performance Clubman Championship action, Jason Doody of Vancouver, WA, scored his first career 600 Superbike win by demonstrating his wet weather skills on Sunday. Jason was leading the 750 Superbike race later in the day when misfortune struck and a late race crash would dash his hopes of a wet weather double. With refined wet weather skills in his arsenal, Jason is a threat in the points chase in a region known for its often unpredictable weather. Andy DiBrino leads the championship scoring wins in 600 & 750 Supersport and 2nd place points in 600 & 750 Superbike. Newcomer Jeremy Coffey is a teenager on the rise. The 15 year old showed incredible poise and pace this weekend by challenging frontrunners McDonough and DiBrino in the 600 & 750 Supersport races on Saturday. Keep an eye on Jeremy, he’s a star in the making. Sitting 3rd in the championship, Peter Kahn racked up two wins on his Suzuki SV650 in Middleweight Supersport and Middleweight Superbike. If Kahn can continue to dominate and Coffey becomes the fly in the ointment for McDonough & DiBrino Clubman Championship ambitions, it is not out of the realm of possibility that Khan only 9 points back can take over the lead in the championship.

In the Langlitz Leathers Vintage Championship, Eirik Nielsen leads the championship by a mere 5 points over runner up in the 2013 championship, Mica Grohn. Nielsen took two wins in the Middleweight Vintage races while Grohn fought off the challenge of Ryan Shanahan on Sunday and took home two wins in the Lightweight Vintage category.

The Oregon Motorcycle Road Racing Association (OMRRA) developed the two-race per weekend Formula Ultra Championship, the ‘your best two classes’ Clubman Championship and the two-race per day Vintage Championship, promoting safe, competitive road racing in all categories. OMRRA, incorporated in 1972 as a non-profit, volunteer run organization, has members ranging in age from 12 to over 70, racing motorcycles of many brands, sizes and ages. OMRRA operates at Portland International Raceway, a city park and world class track. For more information, visit www.omrra.com and join us atwww.facebook.com/omrra.racing
