RED BULL INDIANAPOLIS GP NOTEBOOK Experienced bike announcers join IMS PA team; Fans can download free Guest Guide INDIANAPOLIS, Monday, Aug. 25, 2008 The Indianapolis Motor Speedway Public Address team pairs a veteran group of IMS announcers with experienced, knowledgeable motorcycle racing broadcasters to call the action and excitement of the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Sept. 12-14. Joining IMS Public Address broadcasters and Indianapolis sports media personalities Dave Calabro, Scott Hoke and Michael Young will be SPEED TV personalities Leigh Diffey, Ralph Sheheen and Greg White. Diffey brings an extensive motorsports television background to the team, having worked on broadcasts of many different racing series, including Formula One, World Rally, MotoGP, 24 Hours of LeMans, ALMS and World Superbike. Sheheen is no stranger to viewers of motorsports, having covered most forms of racing including MotoGP on many major sports networks. Sheheen focuses on Supercross, AMA Road Racing, MotoGP, the Knoxville Nationals, Star Mazda and “The Speed Report” for SPEED. White began his career with SPEED in 1998 as producer and editor on “Motorcyclist” and “Bike Week” while racing in the AMA Superbike series. White is a pit reporter for the AMA Superbike Series and the motorcycle racing analyst for “The Speed Report.” Sheheen and White are veteran anchors of CBS network coverage of MotoGP. Calabro is sports director for Indianapolis television station WTHR. Calabro has earned four regional Emmy Awards and was named “Best Sportscaster” by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine readers. An avid racing fan, Calabro spent many days at the Speedway while growing up. He has been part of the IMS Public Address staff since 1985 and worked alongside the legendary Tom Carnegie for several years before Carnegie’s retirement in 2006. Hoke is the morning host on local station WFYI-FM 90.1 (NPR). He is a veteran broadcaster with more than 25 years experience in Central Indiana, having worked as a television host and sideline reporter for the Indiana Pacers and FOX Sports Net, as well as a sports anchor and reporter for Indianapolis television station WRTV. Hoke has been on the IMS Public Address team since 2006. Young works for the nationally syndicated “Bob and Tom Show.” He became a race correspondent in 2002 and also does audio/video production for the show. Young began his career in radio in 1986 and has been music director and on-air personality for Indianapolis radio station WRZX and hosted “That Racin’ Show” on WNDE. The free Guide contains 21 colorful pages packed with information about the inaugural MotoGP event at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway from Sept. 12-14, including schedules of events at the track and around greater Indianapolis, gates and grandstands, MotoGP 101, fan checklist, concessions, vendor locations, track map, fan guidelines, camping, driving directions, parking and more. *** Rally 4 Riley: AAA Hoosier Insurance, working with partners that include the Indianapolis Colts, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and WJJK radio (104.5 FM), will conduct the first Rally 4 Riley motorcycle ride Saturday, Sept. 13, with proceeds benefiting the Kohl’s Center for Safe Transportation at Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis. The ride, which will begin at Eagle Creek Golf Club at 8802 W. 56th St. in Indianapolis and end at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway, is being conducted in support of AAA Hoosier Insurance recently being named a Proud Sponsor of the 2008 Red Bull Indianapolis GP. The $25-per-person Riley Hospital fundraiser will begin at 7 a.m. with a pre-ride breakfast and raffle prize drawings that will occur every 20 minutes. Indianapolis Colts’ cheerleaders and the team’s mascot, “Blue,” will also be on site. The ride to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will start at 8:45 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 9:30 a.m. Any rider holding a valid Red Bull Indianapolis GP ticket will be able to proceed through the IMS admission gates. Rally 4 Riley participants will each receive an inaugural event rally pack. Registration for the ride will be conducted on-site at Eagle Creek Golf Course the morning of Sept. 13. All transactions will be by cash only. *** Red Bull Indianapolis GP tickets: Tickets are on sale for the inaugural Red Bull Indianapolis GP on Sept. 14, 2008. Tickets can be purchased either online at www.indianapolismotorspeedway.com at any time; on the phone by calling (800) 822-INDY outside the Indianapolis area or (317) 492-6700 locally between 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday; or visiting the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Ticket Office on the first floor of the IMS Administration Building at 4790 W. 16th St. in Indianapolis from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday. All tickets for this event are three-day tickets, with both reserved and general admission seating available.
