Roadracingworld.com reached DMG President Roger Edmondson this afternoon and expressed condolences regarding the death of his 90-year-old mother today. “It wasn’t unexpected,” said Edmondson. Then asked for his reaction to news of a possible announcement regarding an MIC-backed U.S. Superbike League in 2009 perhaps involving at least three of the four major Japanese motorcycle importers, Edmondson said, “My reaction to this news is that I would probably be well advised to wait until such an announcement is made. At that point I will certainly have comments if that’s true, because if that is true I have been lied to and misled in a way that is outside my prior experience. So the best thing for me to do is just wait.” Asked if he was meeting with American Honda Senior Vice President (and MIC Series advocate) Ray Blank this weekend at Indianapolis, Edmondson said, “I have several meetings scheduled this weekend. I would rather not get into the details at this point in time, because I don’t want anybody whom I’m talking with to feel that there’s any expectations or pressure. “I think certainly you know that I am open and I believe there is a great service provided by the press, but I also think at other times that the press’ role is to report what happened and not make it happen. And I think sometimes that pressure put on participants in negotiations or discussions can sometimes have a negative effect on their ability to feel free to speak their minds. So at this point I’d rather not comment on that either,” Edmondson said. “If there is an announcement, give me time to process it and call me back. You know I’m not bashful,” concluded Edmondson.
