For the second time this year, the Central Motorcycle Roadracing Association visited Motorsport Ranch in Cresson, Texas, where Dustin Dominguez and Ty Howard turned in banner performances during sprint racing action. When all was said and done, Dominguez ended the weekend with five sprint wins and Howard left with three.

Beautiful but hot conditions greeted the CMRA faithful, who gathered to ride the 1.7-mile Cresson course in the counter-clockwise direction for round eight of its championship series. And when all was said and done, Dominguez had laid claim to wins in the Super Sonic Springs D Superstock, AVTEQ A Superbike, Island Racing Services C Superbike, D Superbike and Exel Transportation Formula 2 races. Meanwhile Howard left his mark by winning the Northwest Honda Formula 1 race, as well as the RaceworX A Superstock and South Central Race Center C Superstock races.

Arkansas racer Cory Burleson beat out Dominguez for the win in the Team Mancuso Powersports B Superbike race, after which, Derek Wagnon topped Burleson to win the Liberty Motorsports Park B Superstock race.

The GMAN Racing 125 GP race was won by Mike Sweeney, while David Roy topped the CompuCrew Formula 40 Heavyweight Expert division and Ronnie Hay claimed the Heavyweight Twins race.

Saturday’s four-hour endurance race, round six of the Shogun Motorsports Endurance Series, was the most competitive of the year, so far, with the top four teams all finishing on the lead lap. The four-hour race was won by Team Mancuso Powersports Racing (Paul Wilkinson, Craig Clark, Chris Romeo, Dane Westby, Dustin Meador), giving them their third win in a row, and moving them to within striking distance of series leaders Moto Ace Racing (Richard McFarland, Joe Prussiano, Cory Burleson, Derek Wagnon, Scott Foster), who finished third on the day.

Sandwiched between Mancuso Powersports and Moto Ace Racing was Tucker Rocky (Ricky Parker, Todd Fleeman, Dustin Doucet), who also claimed the C Superstock win, along with second overall.

Village Idiots (Chris Headley, John Orchard, Craig Montgomery, Chad Tieszen) were fourth overall and second in the C Superbike division while GSX-R1000-mounted D2Cycles (Dean Thimjon, Jason Swan, Kurt Stock, Brent Wood, John Deuser) took the win in the Formula 1 class with a fifth overall finish.

In the Formula 2 division, Faltless Racing (Eric Falt, Robert Bradlaw, Chuck Ergle, Bill Erzal, Clayton Schutz) added yet another win to their resume with a seventh overall finish.

No less than 60 teams lined up for the final round of the Shogun Motorsports Formula Mini Endurance three hour race, which saw Desert-Mice (Stephen Guynes, Jeff Mendelson, Troy Green, Bill Hirstius), wrap up the series title with a third overall finish.

KTM SX85-mounted Excel Racing (Conner Blevins, Dustin Dominguez, Alex Humphries), took the win, followed by GMAN Racing 2 (Garet Tomlinson, Harry Tomlinson, Bill Syfan, Jake Lewis, Ryan Andrews) on a Honda RS85.

The CMRA continues its series on September 27-28, at Eagles Canyon Raceway, in Decatur, Texas, with a full slate of sprint races, as well as a 6 hour big bike endurance race.
